Project Whitehorse Manor Primary public space planters
Specification To fit and supply timber blok planters to the reception area, also to install a 19 meter planter with integrated vegetable patches along the front fence of the school
Location Croydon
Partners A Touch of Class landscapers came in after we had finished to complete all of the landscaping aspects.

Whitehorse Manor Primary in Croydon was a blank canvas for Taylor Made Planters. We were able to develop our creative side, and use public space planters in more inventive ways. Peter Hill, the facilities manager, called to arrange a site meeting to see what we could offer. Here’s what we came up with.

We didn’t want to just put planters in that served the purpose of hiding the fence, so we came up with a design that integrated vegetable patches for the children to use. As this project was based in a learning environment, we felt that the inclusion of vegetable patches would be really useful, as the children could use them to learn about growing plants and food. Public space planters don’t just have to be functional; they can serve creative purposes too.

We then built up the planter around these to hide the fencing that ran along the front of the school. This would allow greenery to grow around the site perimeter, creating a more pleasing environment for the children to spend time in.

Along with the planter in the playground we built three planters around the entrance of the school to welcome parents and visitors. These should add a great deal of character to the premises once the flowers and greenery start to flourish. We also supplied three heavy duty wooden benches and three circular planters for the rear of the school. In general, we wanted to provide Whitehorse Manor Primary with products that would enhance the overall aesthetics of the school grounds. We feel confident in the fact that we achieved this.
